My name is Derek Calhoun. I'm entering my 3rd season as head Coach of the East Carter Lady Raiders Softball Team. Since becoming head coach, the energy and support of our team has rejuvenated the program. Over the last couple seasons we have recorded two of the best seasons in school history (49-19) along with the 2013 62nd District Championship. This will make my 12th year of coaching sports at East Carter (12 football, 2 baseball, and 5 softball). My staff and I try and always stress to the girls that hard work is not only important on the field but also in the classroom.

2013 is the 20th year of my coaching career. We had the first girls team in 1992. we also had a boys team that year. East Carter had boys team before 1992. Gary Salyer and Charles Baker were the coaches. This is the 6th year for our courts at ECMS.
I was voted 11th Region Boys Co-Coach of the Year in 2001 and 16th Region Boys and Girls Coach of the year in 2012.
